These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

    Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

    Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

    Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. I have a rescue. I''ve had a rescue cat (Maine Coon) and he needed a specific bite size. He''d wolf down anything that was small, but with the larger bite sizes he''d sit at the station and bite, chew, take his time.

This dog I have now is a Husky, albino, fed just table scraps. She''s only 3yo around 30lbs and goes through petco bones that a friend''s doberman goes through for a week, she treats them like they were crackers and gone in a day She''s way small, stinted growth, but powerful jaw.

I work at AZ and know the dog foods. I never saw one of these opened so I didn''t know the kibble size. But you figure if you''re showing a picture of a German Shepard, a Husky would at least chew on them.

On the bags for the cats, there is a description and a size of the kibble. On these, there is not. If I could, I''d find a kibble that was 4-5x the size. We as humans need to chew our food, so do dogs.

    -edit-

This stuff really packs a punch for what''s needed for a dog. After eating it, again a rescue who was starved, she slept. I gave her the food mixed in with a little "human food" and she barely ate it. It''s not like she didn''t want it, it''s because she''s too full. So I guess when switching diets completely, give them a little bit at a time. I''ve been told to switch to mixed human and this. I figured browned hamburger meat and this, or chicken broth mixed in.

This morning I gave her a cup and she didn''t look at it twice. She ate a few bits. But I''ll stick by my statement; if the kibbles were bigger she''d wind up chewing them instead of wolfing it down. Probably a shock to her digestive system. (which is OK). I think, personally, that the food is the best thing for a dog. Gave her more nutrients in a day than she''s had in weeks.

We have two sweet little dogs, a Maltese/Chihuahua mix, and a Chiweenie. They are 21 months and almost a year old, are a little picky and both had signs of allergies. Chewy, (the Maltese mix), had itchy ears and frequent ear infections. Louie had itchy skin, chewed his paws, and scratched a lot. We have always fed them good quality food, but wondered if totally grain free diet would make a difference. We ordered a bag of the TOTW Waterfowl, and they loved it. So we then ordered the Bison and the Wild Boar varieties and they loved those, too. Tried the Venison, but they didn''t care much for that one. We rotate the flavors every three days or so to give them variety. (5 lb bags so they are easy to store in a container). They LOVE it! Sometimes we give them a can of the wet food mixed in for a Sunday meal treat. And best of all, no more ear infections and no more itchy puppies. Their coats are shiny and they are bright-eyed, active and best of all, healthy and happy. This is a great line of dog food. Chewy and Louie give it an enthusiastic four paws up!

I have a pack of six, including two terrier mixes, a beagle, and two herding mixes. They''re anywhere from 1 year to 9 years old, and all happily eat this food. Previously I''d tried a variety of standard and grain free foods, but I could never get all six to agree on a food and I didn''t notice any significant changes in health with any particular brand.

The Taste of the Wild Wetlands formula food seems a step above. Their bowel movements are regular and healthy looking, stomach upset is very uncommon now, and their coats appear healthier. My nine year old beagle and eight year old Aussie shepherd/ACD mix have noticeably better energy levels as well, and the patch of dry flaky skin on my beagle''s back has cleared up.

I''m now doing a mixed diet with dry only in the mornings, and half dry mixed with a quality chicken or fish based canned in the later afternoon, supplemented with cooked vegetables occasionally. It''s expensive compared to the cheaper food brands, but I''ve never seen my dogs healthier or happier.

I got this because I wanted to invest in a more quality dogfood for my dutch shepherd. It was recommended on a few sites that do reviews of dog foods and was also reviewed well by users. I decided to give it a go despite the higher price tag and ended up being very disappointed in it. My dog, as well as a german shepherd, and a mix breed (part coyote) wouldn''t eat it. They literally would rather starve themselves than eat more than a mouthful for hours and hours. Even when mixed with their favorite canned wet food they barely touch it. I don''t think Amazon would allow a return for this, otherwise I''d try.

I checked the bag and I see no indications that it was opened or exposed prior to me receiving it and the expiration date isn''t until next year. Maybe it''s just a bad batch? I don''t know what the issue is, but I can''t afford to buy another bag and have it turn out the same way again. For the moment I have it sitting out of the way and have gone back to the lower quality food I was using before while I look for another food to try-at least my girl won''t go hungry in the meantime.

Started my puppy out on the TOTW for puppies bison flavor mixed with Nutro Ultra that his breeder had been feeding him, so I could transition him over.
He didnt like Nutro much, and I was worried he didnt seem to eat well. It took him a bit to like the TOTW bison flavor, but he ate it better than the Nutro food alone.
Encouraged, I decided to try out this TOTW Wetlands fowl flavor...and he LIKES THIS ONE.
We will do a slow transition and see how he does.
Some changes I have already noticed are: he is energetic, his eyes are bright and his coat is soft and shines. ALL GREAT!
He seems more thirsty with TOTW, and needs to potty often. Not sure if good or bad yet...time will tell, but I''m pleased he is eating better, and no doubt that the ingredients in this food are good for him. ALSO...Being USA made is a big plus in my book.
His stools have softened, almost too much, which surprised me. This may just be the transition to new food, so again time will tell.
So far I am pleased to see him liking this food, and knowing that what he''s eating is good for him.
Glad Amazon has it on Prime at a good price (a better price than the pet store food that didnt measure up to this brand in my opinion), since it doesn''t sell in stores near me.

UPDATE..AFTER 4 days my puppy threw up, then refused to eat this. He was more than normally thirsty, and would sometimes pant after eating. Stools remained too soft. Back to the drawing board for a food he will like and digest well, I guess. Will change rating to reflect this.

Original Review - Before I was ready to cut open this bag, hundreds of ants got into it first. Then I noticed the expiration date was July 2016....that''s two months before I purchased this bag. I ended up feeding the trash bin with the whole bag and started murdering all the ants. I''ll be visiting my local pet store for dog food from now on.

This is certainly a much higher-quality food than the most common or store brands, but it also comes at a substantial increase in price. Unfortunately, neither pup would eat it, and even after giving the remainder to a friend, they gave it back for the same reason. Therefore, unless sure your fury family will eat it, do consider a smaller size or perhaps a sample pack if available. It’s entirely possible said dogs are just very picky (even if they’ll happily eat rather unappetizing things) and if so this isn’t an issue with the manufacturer, but was nonetheless very disappointing to spend so much on a dry food only to have it go to waste.
