I''m an audio enthusiast. That being said, this is a great buy for anyone that enjoys the music of Jim Morrison and The Doors. Contrary to other reviewers, the music is well mastered and pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Personally, I''ve never heard these recordings sound so good. Morrison''s voice comes through with power and authority. The music is crystal clear with a wide, dynamic sound stage & excellent separation. My turntable rig consists of a Technics SL-1210M5G and a Denon DL-160 MC Cartridge. When playing these records, it''s almost as if I''m right there in the studio as they''re being recorded. The first pressing of these re-releases by Rhino had some flaws which have been remedied/recalled by the manufacturer. Some packaging issues had also been addressed. Each record is inside it''s own re-issued, original jacket and comes packaged in an attractive faux lizard skin box. It slides open from the side, rather than lifting open from the top. It''s really a very nice box set, packaged neatly. Selling elsewhere for 200.00, compare to amazon''s price of 150.00 with free shipping plus guarantee makes this a no-brainer. Buy with confidence from amazon. Great price, fast, free shipping and satisfaction guaranteed.

Five stars here.

After searching all over and calling every record store nearby only to find out that this album is no longer being made on vinyl, I just had to purchase it for the perfect gift to my friend. It was in great condition and she absolutely loved it.

For those of us waiting for a quality reissue of these LPs on vinyl this set is worth the $ and the wait. Many people like to do comparisons against other issues of these albums and I typically find it hard to fault one release over another...unless it is night and day. I feel as though this release was designed to mirror the original master tapes as much as possible while extracting out some of the detail lost in prior releases. By doing this, I think there is a give and take. When it comes to comparing remasterings I have a hard time saying one is better...they are just different (each having their own subjective pros and cons). For instance I find the detail and separtion of instruments to be more compeling in this remastering while there is slightly more bass in other releases. I give this set 4.5 stars on sound and 4.5 stars on packaging. My set looks great, no flaws. However, the sleeves do exhibit some wear from sliding back and forth across each other within the set...maybe they should have sealed these separately? That is my only complaint on packaging...no biggie.

Great for a collection
Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2014
For anyone who wants a good overall collection of the Doors on vinyl I suggest this one. The only songs I wish it included are Soul Frog and King Snake. I understand why they aren''t though. This is a greatest hits, and those weren''t on the radio every 5 seconds.

Sorry to buck the trend which I don''t normally like to do but in my listening room and played on my system (which isn''t bad at all) I think this box set sounds great. It was produced in conjunction with the original Doors producer so he should know what the original sound was intended to be.The box set is fast, detailed, with tight tuneful, and well defined bass, as I''m sure it as meant to sound. We''re talking about music which was made whilst half the group were tripping on acid here!!!. I have a Michell Gyrodec(albeit with a suped up power supply) but it''s not reknowned for it''s bass replay. In my rather small listening room with floor standing speakers, the sound is a joy to behold. No overblown bass but well defined and tuneful, just as it probably meant to be.Remember the Doors didn''t have a bass player they used sesion musicians for this task.I have plenty of poorly recorded re-issues some of which are almost unplayable, but these are where the high frequencies and mids are very harsh, which is something I can''t abide.I''m a big reggae fan and I can''t stand bright or bass light music.Every upgrade to my system I have made has been to increase weight and emotion, as many people know the Michell Gyrodec can tend towards brightness. This box set is NOT bass light. Listen to Densmore on Drums it''s a revelation. He must be one of the best "pop" drummers of all time. I have a Michell Gyrodec turntable and these albums makes it sound like the king of rhythm and timing. Please have a listen to Morrison Hotel or my favourite the song Soft Parade which I''d never heard before but love o bit now.Anyway the people who have given this low raings are entirely within their rights and in their system and in their listening environment(more important than you think) it may sound rubbish but to my eas it is superb. I had issues with a few of the album covers(scuffs)but Rhino records to their credit have and at great cost re-issued new covers to people ho notified them.I received a ull set even though I though I old them it only affected 3 covers. They even re-issued a omplete set of albums to people who had issues over the quality of the presings.Luckily the presings I had were great. Anyway if you do decide to buy one of these vinyl box sets, and if I was you I probably wouldn''t based on the other reviews,Rhino will sort any problems out anyway.
